Bio

Kalli Padgett

Emergence is her most recognized body of work. It plays with the idea of collective human consciousness and the dramatic narrative of “realization” Children are often used here because of their universally relatability and innocence. Remembering what it feels like to be a child again through these paintings puts viewers in an egoless state of discovery. These paintings are created from personal experiences with the entire world in mind.

An artist of Creole / Cajun decent based in New Orleans Louisiana. After obtaining a Fine arts degree at SCAD in Savannah Georgia, She began making work connecting humanity through visual & environmental experiences. Relatable situations and elements reflecting time, place, and social constructs. Turning harsh perspectives into fluid conversation. Moments of the human expirience are depicted alongside environments of perpetual conflict, reflecting reality in abstracted narratives. She paints people from her real life, includes local references, and specifically curated subject matter / symbols to depict a narrative charged differently to each viewers digression.

Kalli’s body of work "The Appropriate Tip" is a series designed to give back to musicians who carry this art form forward with their passion, character, and sacrifice. She gives 20% of profit back to the musician, or to a cause of their choice. These works started during Covid when musicians were left without a career or financial opportunity because of regulations. After witnessing a group playing for free during COVIDS first Mardi Gras, Kalli started this series to give an “appropriate tip” to musicians who deserve recognition as contemporary leaders. The purpose is to educate people on the history and importance of music, encourage people to support living artists, and become a catalyst for collaboration across mediums.
